Being a trucker for the past almost 15 years, I have run into many issues with the industry standard of "paper log books". These books can cost drivers and companies thousands of dollars in fines if not filled in correctly. I want to develop an application to eliminate this and bring these logs into the digital age. My application would give hints to drivers and notify the user of errors before they occur all the while keeping the professional trucker within legal limits of the "hours of service law" among other things. While there are some solutions that have already been developed, none are iPad/iPhone specific and none meet the FMCSA guidelines for acceptance. This is a huge problem and in the age of iPad and android tablet technology, this should also be a simple and money saving solution for transportation companies. There are millions of truck drivers WORLD wide and every single driver has to fill in these "paper logs" and comply with governmental authorities.
